Daddy Vs: a Break, New Projects

I’m sure you’ve all noticed by now, but I haven’t posted anything in nearly two weeks. I even missed my weekly newsletter last Sunday.

Being a stay at home dad has gotten more complex. The infant is on her way toward being mobile. All she wants to do is roll and scooch. It’s great to see her developing so rapidly, especially considering that our first daughter was premature, and thus hit most of her milestones later, and at a slower pace. However, a scooching baby is a far cry from lying in the boppy all day. She requires more of my attention. A lot more.

But that’s not the only reason I haven’t posted. I’ve decided to channel my new found creativity into fulfilling a lifelong goal, something I’ve meant to do but been afraid to start for almost twenty years: I’m writing my first novel.

Its slow going so far, but I’ve produced eighteen chapters and written about 110 pages, and I’m on track to finish a rough draft by the end of September. But when I say “rough draft” I mean rough.

At this point, I don’t even have plans for publication on my current project. I’m using this experience to learn the novel writing process, and to work through the quirks of my writing style, such as an over reliance on using the passive voice.

The subject matter is also intensely personal, but it’s a story I feel I have to get through before I can work on anything else.

So what does this mean for Daddy Vs? It means a hiatus, at least for a couple more weeks. I do have some Switch games that I’m anxious to review when I return, and I’d like to comment on the current influx of free to play titles available to Switch owners.

I’m proud to have generated so much content over the last four months. I managed to post around 140 articles. But now I need a break.

Wish me luck, and check back often, because daddy is not going anywhere just yet. Hopefully I’ll see you mid September.
